Construction of a new canal approx 0.9km long and 30m wide, tapering to 20m under the bridge nearest to Khalid Lagoon, Al Majaz Area, Sharjah. Thus linking the existing Al Khan and Khalid Lagoons in order to promote the tidal flushing of the lagoons and to accommodate the passage of small water taxis between the lagoons along its full length.
The canal walls are constructed of a reinforced soil design. A tidal gate was fabricated and constructed adjacent to Bridge 20, across the 20m section of the canal to control the tidal flow of water from the canal into Khalid Lagoon.
The gate is housed in an in-situ reinforced concrete structure and accommodates the hydraulic operating system.
