Bob bags MBE for contribution to road safety
A Carillion employee has been honoured in the Queen’s birthday honours list.
Bob Wadsworth, the incident support manager on Carillion’s Area 5 highway maintenance contract (which incorporates the M25), has been awarded an MBE in recognition of his contribution to road safety.

Bob (56), who lives in Bicester, joined Carillion in 2000 following a career in the traffic department of the Thames Valley Police. He has been involved in road safety in some capacity for the whole of his career.

Bob received a letter from the Prime Minister’s office shortly after returning from holiday at the end of May advising him that he had been nominated and that there would be no further correspondence until the Honours List was published in June.

“I thought it was my brother-in-law trying to wind me up, but there was always that nagging doubt – could it really be true”, explained Bob.

“I confirmed it by looking at the BBC News website at 5 o’clock on the Saturday morning and then went off for a weekend, driving an Area 5 Sphere team from the M25 contract to do the Three Peaks Challenge.”

Bob has yet to be advised when he will receive his award but plans to celebrate with a family get-together in the very near future.
